SOCAN honoured Ryan Guldemond, of Vancouver-based rock group Mother Mother, with a SOCAN No. 1 Song Award, on Feb. 7, 2019. SOCAN’s Coralie Hummel and Sara Pavilionis presented the award backstage before a sold-out performance at The Orpheum Theatre in their hometown.

SOCAN recognized Guldemond for writing the band’s song “Get Up,” which topped the Mediabase Alternative Rock chart for seven weeks, and the Nielsen BDS Modern Rock chart as well. “Get Up” is published by Guldemond’s own publishing company, Mother Mother 35. The band is currently on a cross-Canada tour in support of their new album Dance & Cry.

In addition to SOCAN’s Hummel and Pavilionis, the presentation was attended by a strong contingent from Watchdog Management, which takes care of the band, including company President Darren Gilmore, General Manager Sarah Fenton, as well as staff  Anastasia DeRosa, Katie Smith, and Kassia Edwards.

SOCAN congratulates Ryan Guldemond, Mother Mother, Watchdog Management, and the band’s entire team on this achievement!
